TNEF Volunteer

We think you’re kind of a BIG DEAL!

Are you passionate about the natural world, youth and education? Then you can make an impact on the education of a young citizen, and our environment, by volunteering for The Nature Education Foundation (TNEF)!

Consider joining our large family of volunteers! The Foundation is the only recognized fundraising arm for the Reserve to support, sustain and grow children’s nature education programs. All students participate in TNEF’s programs at no cost to them. The Foundation’s programs take place at the Reserve, in classrooms, at other protected lands and in the community. Therefore, we are engaged in educational activities and special events with a wide variety of volunteer opportunities that include:

  • Family Wildlife Day
  • Nature Education Resource Forum
  • Jr. Ranger Program
  • Become a Certified Phenology High School Observer
  • Special Fundraising Events (Concerts, Art Show, Garden Tour, Cowboy Jubilee)
  • Ambassador Program
  • Landscape Team
  • Clerical / Office Support
  • Marketing / Social Media Committee
  • Handyman / Maintenance Crew

Sign up today as a volunteer and help make an impact on a child’s nature education journey!

When you become a Foundation Volunteer, you are vetted through the Riverside County Regional Park and Open Space District’s volunteer process. You’ll receive a County Volunteer ID badge. You must complete this process to be able to volunteer for the Foundation when our events are on County property. You then also have the opportunity to be interviewed by County staff to volunteer for other tasks supporting the needs of the Reserve itself. Those opportunities include:

  • Third Grade Docent
  • Visitor Center / Information Desk
  • Trailhead Assignments
